Loose connections (we find these under ALL handy-man applied 'wire-nuts') are the main cause of electrical fires.

Arc-fault fires occur most often at outlets BEHIND the BED, COUCH, drapes...and can be avoided by the simple installation of a modern ARC FAULT outlet/receptacle oftentimes.

Many modern bedrooms and other areas are protected by an ARC FAULT breaker in the panel;  handy-men sometimes replace these modestly expensive devices with an old-style breaker, leaving those problematic outlets behind furnishings unprotected.

In the event you do suffer an electrical fire,  be sure to be able to tell the insurance company that you hired a licensed electrician, or you could be liable for damages if they result from an illegally altered electrical system, or work not done up to Code.
